Frequently Asked Questions
Is the information I share with BlueJay private?
Yes. Privacy is a core pillar of BlueJay. Your information is only used to enhance safety and communication during a traffic stop. BlueJay does not sell user data, and personal details are never shared beyond the context of an active interaction.
How is my data protected?
BlueJay uses extreme levels of encryption, multi-factor authentication, and distributed data storage to keep information secure. The platform meets HIPAA-level security standards and uses AES encryption to protect all user data at rest and in transit.
What information is shared with officers during a traffic stop?
Only information you choose to include in your BlueJay Driver Profile is shared. This can include language preferences, disabilities, medical or mental health considerations, and other humanizing details that help officers tailor their approach.
What information is not shared?
Officers do not see your age, gender, ethnicity, or zip code.
What devices and platforms is BlueJay compatible with?
BlueJay is available on both iOS and Android devices. The app supports iPhone 6 and newer, as well as Samsung Galaxy 4 and newer models. Law enforcement accesses BlueJay through secure software within patrol vehicles.
Can I see information about the officer pulling me over?
Yes. When a stop is initiated, drivers receive a real-time notification that includes the officer’s name, photo, badge number, and the reason for the stop. This transparency helps verify legitimacy and reduces uncertainty before the officer reaches the vehicle.
